Shepherd Neame launched their new Spitfire ad campaign at an exclusive event at London’s Royal Albert Hall.

Comedy duo Armstrong and Miller are the new ambassadors for Spitfire Ale, as their 1940’s RAF characters from the BAFTA-winning BBC comedy show Armstrong and Miller.

The Shepherd Neame ale, which is brewed exclusively at Britain’s oldest brewery in Faversham, will use Armstrong and Miller for the new TV campaigns.

And the new adverts were launched at an exclusive event at London's Royal Albert Hall last Thursday.

The launch was followed by a performance by music legend Eric Clapton at the famous venue.

Shepherd Neame chief executive Jonathan Neame said: “This is hugely important to the town.

"I hope we do our bit to spread the name of Faversham and Kent and Kentish beers all over the world.

“To have two people right at the top of their career and household names is great for us and great for Faversham.”

The new incentive is apparently a “perfect fit” according to one half of the team, Alexander Armstrong.

He said: “Our quintessentially English 1940’s characters, with their modern street vernacular, echo the brands identity.”

The ale, which was created to celebrate the 50 anniversary of the Battle of Britain, is known for its war-era humor, with previous taglines including Downed all over Kent, just like the Luftwaffe and No Nazi aftertaste.

The duo will feature for Spitfire media events for two years, with a new series of TV adverts coming out during the summer.

Kate Maclean, brand manager for Spitfire Ale, said: “We are very excited to have Alexander and Ben’s RAF pilots as our ambassadors.

“Spitfire always been associated with a very British sense of humour and the characters are an excellent fit for the brand’s personality.”
