Kent-based Hand Picked is poised to add to its collection of country house hotels.

The company, based in Sevenoaks, has agreed terms for the acquisition of St Pierre Park Hotel and Golf Resort near St Peter Port, Guernsey.

The four-star venue is being bought from SandpiperCI for an undisclosed sum. St Pierre Park Hotel, set in 35 acres of parkland with woods and lakes, has 131 bedrooms and conference and banqueting facilities for up to 360 people, a leisure spa and a range of dining options. Its nine-hole par 3 golf course was designed by Tony Jacklin,

From September, Hand Picked Hotels will own 19 hotels, including two in Kent - Chilston Park and Brandshatch Place.

The company was founded by former lawyer Julia Hands. The latest proposed acquisition is part of an expansion strategy by Hand Picked Hotels to extend its presence in the Channel Islands where it already owns L’Horizon Beach Hotel and Spa, St Brelade’s Bay, in Jersey.

Julia Hands, who formed Hand Picked Hotels in 2001 from a collection of hotels purchased with her husband, financier Guy Hands, said: “St Pierre Park will be our second resort hotel alongside L’Horizon in Jersey. The hotel is a great family destination and an excellent place for leisure breaks, weddings and business meetings and conferences. Guernsey is a beautiful island with good beaches, watersports, and excellent local produce.”
