Lorry fire causes tailbacks on M26 westbound

Motorists are being warned of delays - hours after a lorry containing powdered milk caught fire on the M26.

The M26 westbound has been shut since just after 9.30am between J2A for the A20 and and the M25/A21 junction 5. Traffic is building up back to J3 for the M20.

Delays have built up on the A25 Maidstone Road , with motorists using it asked to avoid the M26.

The fire was first reported just after the morning rush hour, with the A25 moving slowly as motorists use it to avoid the M26.

The road is expected to remain closed for some time as the fire brigade remain on scene working to put out the fire, before recovery and clean-up work can begin.

Traffic coming onto the M20 westbound is asked to continue on the M20 to join the M25 clockwise at J1.
