Robert Powsey and Duncan Snape charged after armed robberies at McColl's and Martin's newsagents

Two men are due in court after a string of armed robberies across the county.

Police from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate were investigating eight raids between March last year and March this year.

Robert Powsey, 41, of Peacock Rise in Chatham and Duncan Snape, 41, of Chapel Yard in London were both arrested on Wednesday and charged with eight counts of robbery.

They were both remanded to appear at Maidstone Crown Court for a preliminary hearing on Friday May 24.

The robberies are:

  • McColls newsagents in Admirals Walk, Chatham on 5 March 2012
  • McColls newsagents in Admirals Walk, Chatham on 29 April 2012
  • McColls newsagents in Leander Drive, Gravesend on 31 March 2013
  • Martins newsagents in Martin Square, Larkfield on 11 March 2013
  • McColls newsagents in Leander Drive in Gravesend on 3 March 2013
  • McColls newsagents, Singleton Post Office, Singleton Centre in Ashford on 11 February 2013
  • Martins newsagents, The Row, New Ash Green in Longfield, 12 December 2012
  • McColls newsagents on Orion Road in Rochester on 12 December 2012
