Angry bull crash causes chaos

Firearms officers were called to the scene of an road accident after a trailer carrying a bull overturned.

The marksmen were on standby in case the animal escaped and posed a risk to the public on the A2 dual-carriageway near Bridge, outside Canterbury.

The carriageways were still closed in both directions as of 1.30pm on Tuesday and police said the bull was still agitated, despite being sedated by a vet.

Firefighters were attempting to lift it onto another trailer.

The incident occurred at about 10.45am as the animal was being transported in a horsebox pulled by a 4x4 vehicle which jackknifed across the coastbound carriageway.

Drivers reported being stuck in their cars for more than two hours.
