Barn blaze brought under control

A STRONG blaze in a Sidcup barn took more than two hours to put out last night.

Fire engines from Orpington, Sidcup, Bexley and Eltham fought the fire in the early hours of the morning in Old Maidstone Road.

The large corrugated structure was 100 per cent alight when firefighters were called to the scene at 1.50am.

The fire was brought under control shortly after 4am but fire crews remained at the site this morning to secure the area.

A Fire Investigation Unit is looking into the cause of the blaze. There are no early indications as to how the barn caught alight.
