A man whose body was found on a railway line between Broadstairs and Dumpton Park has been identified as Anthony Daley .

An inquest opened and adjourned on Monday into his death heard that the 37-year-old’s body was found lying between the rails of the Ramsgate-bound track near the Bay View Road bridge around 11am last Thursday .

It is understood Mr Daley, from Newbury Court, The Crescent, Sidcup, was struck by a train, and a British Transport Police spokesman said there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.

The spokesman said: “The train driver was taken to the Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Hospital at Margate as a precaution. No passengers on the train were hurt.”

The main Ramsgate Road from Broadstairs to Swinburne Avenue was closed and traffic diverted around the area
