The council offices in Home Gardens had to be evacuated and an Army bomb disposal team were called from Folkestone to dispose of the six-inch shell.

The man dug up his discovery in the Otford area a few days ago and drove it in his van to the centre just after 11am.

Police have sealed off the area, including the railway station nearby.
