An inquest has been opened and adjourned today into the death of a man who died in a human cannonball stunt.

Matthew Cranch, 24, of Watergate Bay, Newquay, died on Easter Monday at Maidstone Hospital, after being fired from a cannon during a stunt show at the Kent showground in Detling.

The inquest, which was opened by Mid Kent and Medway coroner Patricia Harding, heard the medical cause of death was multiple injuries.
