Car catches fire on M20

One man was injured after a crash on the M20 that sparked a car fire.

The car and a van collided on the coastbound carriageway between junctions 9 and 10 at Ashford just before 8am Monday.

It caused a section of the road to be closed.

South East Coast Ambulance Service has now confirmed one man was hurt and taken to Ashford’s William Harvey Hospital.

His injuries were not thought to be life threatening.

Two engines from Ashford Fire Station were called to deal with the blaze.

Police said two lanes of the motorway had to be closed after the crash.
