Car driver trapped after head-on crash

A MAN was seriously hurt and trapped in his car for more than an hour following a head-on collision with a lorry.

The crash happened on the B2017 Badsell Road at Five Oak Green, near Paddock Wood, shortly before 3.45pm on Thursday.

The motorist suffered head and spinal injuries and was treated by paramedics at the scene as firefighters using hydraulic cutting gear struggled to free him from his wrecked Volkswagen Bora.

Kent Air Ambulance was called in and once the man was released took just five minutes to fly him to Maidstone Hospital where he was detained for treatment..

The lorry driver was clear of his vehicle by the time emergency services arrived, but was also taken to Maidstone Hospital suffering from neck pains and minor injuries. The injured car driver’s condition is not yet known.
