Chatham man dies in M2 crash

A MAN was killed after being thrown from his car in a motorway smash on Saturday.

The 55-year-old from Chatham died after he lost control of his car on the M2 and crashed into a boundary fence.

The tragedy happened at about 2.30pm on the London-bound carriageway between the Junctions 4 and 5, Gillingham and Sittingbourne turn-offs.

A Kent Police spokesman, said: “It appears the driver lost control, swerved off the motorway and

into a boundary fence. He was thrown from the vehicle and died from his injuries.”

The passenger, a 41-year-old man, was taken to hospital but later released.

Police are appealing for witnesses and anyone who can help should contact the Kent force’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 01622 798538.
