Two men have entered pleas over the alleged murder of a father-of-six who died after an incident outside his Ashford home.

Christopher Goldfinch, 22, denied murder, while Scott Stevens, 23, did not enter a plea to the charge. They both denied manslaughter.

They were originally accused of causing Paul Hopkins grievous bodily harm with intent and an alternative of inflicting grievous bodily harm.

But the charges became murder after Mr Hopkins, of Beecholme Drive, Kennington, died in Kent and Canterbury Hospital on November 23.

The 32-year-old suffered serious head injuries and had been in a coma since the incident on August 2.

Stevens, of Augustus Walk, and Goldfinch, of Falcon Way, both Ashford, will stand trial on May 17.

They were remanded in custody at Maidstone Crown Court.
