BUCKINGHAM Palace has announced that the Queen is to visit Bexley next month. She will meet representatives of the borough’s diverse communities during the visit on Tuesday, July 26.

It will be the third time The Queen has visited the area. In 1953 she visited Erith to speak to people who had been affected by the year’s devastating floods. She returned in 1980 to see the new community developing in Thamesmead.

The Mayor of Bexley, Cllr John Shepheard, said: “We are very honoured that Her Majesty has chosen to visit Bexley.

"We are looking forward very much to having the opportunity to inform Her Majesty about some of the exciting things that are happening in the borough and introducing her to some of the many people who help make Bexley such a vibrant place.”

No further details for the Queen’s programme have so far been released.
