Sainsbury's tells daffodil fans not to eat them

Sainsbury's customers have been left bemused after they were warned not to eat daffodils.

The bizarre warning comes on some packets of the store's flowers which are sold for £1.

The sign shows a crossed-out knife and fork.

Last year the supermarket gave Suzanne Bradish, from Rochester, a bunch of onions as a substitute for the flowers.

At the time a Sainsbury’s spokesman said: "Lettuce apologise for our eye-watering mistake.

"We’re springing into action and have already spoken to the customer who really knows her onions. We feel like a right bunch of daffs."
