Dartford man released on bail over £40m art theft

A Kent man arrested over the theft of Chinese art valued at up to £40million has been bailed.

The 24-year-old, from Dartford, was held on suspicion of burglary.

He was arrested in Kent late on Tuesday and taken to a police station in Cambridgeshire.

The man has now been released on bail until June 21.

Chinese art from several dynasties was taken from the Fitzwilliam Museum, in Cambridge, on April 13.

Four other people have been arrested over the raid.

Two men aged 28 and 25 as well as a 15-year-old boy have been charged with theft and conspiracy to commit burglary.

A 31-year-old man has been arrested and bailed on suspicion of money laundering.
