Motor racing officials ran for their lives as a car hurtled towards them in a horrendous crash at Brands Hatch.

Portuguese driver Francisco Carvalho's vehicle smashed into a barrier and cartwheeled off the track and into the path of marshals and safety stewards.

His car was just feet from crushing the fleeing trio as it rolled at least four times before landing in a crumpled heap.

Miraculously, as these pictures just released show, Carvalho walked away without serious injuries and all the race officials escaped unharmed.

The spectacular crash happened at about 4pm on Sunday at the Fawkham circuit during the second Eurocup race, just after a World Touring Car Championship race.
