A suspected drink-driver has been arrested after a pensioner was killed in a crash in Paddock Wood last night.
The 25-year-old man is being questioned on suspicion of drink driving and causing death by dangerous driving.
His orange Land Rover Freelander crashed with a 73-year-old local man's red Peugeot 406 car in Queen Street.
The pensioner, who is believed to have been the sole occupant of the Peugeot, died at the scene.
The crash happened at about 6.45pm near the Elm Tree pub.
Kent Police said the arrested man, from Maidstone, is in custody.
Queen Street was closed for several hours at the junction with Pearsons Green Road amid a forensic examination of the scene.
