Driver seriously hurt in crash

A MAN suffered a serious pelvic injury and is expected to need surgery in London after a two-car crash in Gatland Lane, Barming, near Maidstone.

Firefighters from Maidstone used hydraulic cutting equipment to free the man from a silver Ford Mondeo after it was in collision with a black Peugeot 205 on Wednesday afternoon.

He was taken to Maidstone Hospital with a pelvic injury and is expected to be transferred to London for surgery, although is expected to make a full recovery.

The driver of the Peugeot suffered whiplash and shock and was also taken to Maidstone Hospital as a precaution.

Police shut the road between its junction with Tonbridge Road and Upper Fant Road while the vehicles were recovered.
