TWO motorists were injured and taken to hospital after a hit-and-run accident on the M2 motorway.

They were both driving cars which were in a collision with a white van at about 6pm last night. The accident happened on the coastbound stretch of the M2, just after junction two at Rochester.

It is believed the white van veered across the road and hit a black Citroen and a blue Ford Fiesta before driving off.

The driver of the Fiesta was taken to hospital with suspected neck injuries after firefighters cut off the roof of his car.

When the Strood fire crew arrived at the scene, the Citroen driver was out of his car but went to hospital for a check-up.

One lane of the M2 was closed for an hour while the scene was cleared. Police are investigating.
