Drivers in Kent are among those being told to check their vehicles to make sure they will measure up to the changing weather conditions.

To help get the message across highways bosses have also reminded Father Christmas to make sure his reindeer are up to the challenge of winter driving.

It comes as data from Highways England shows almost half of all breakdowns are caused by simple mechanical problems which could be avoided with basic checks.
