A Kent Euro MP has become an unlikely YouTube phenomenon after delivering a withering verbal assault on Gordon Brown when he addressed the European Parliament.

Conservative MEP Daniel Hannan made a blistering attack on Mr Brown after the Prime Minister delivered a speech to the Parliament earlier this week as part of what has been dubbed his "global world tour".

But it is Mr Hannan's attack - which you can watch below - on the Prime Minister that has generated huge public interest with more than a million people watching footage of his speech on YouTube and other websites.

It is the most viewed political clip in British history - second is Gordon Brown picking his nose with 750,000 viewers!

The MEP told the KM Group he was still unable to fully explain why the speech has become such a sensation.

He said: "I still cannot quite work it out. I've been making similar speeches from all corners of Kent and the south east for 10 years and posting them on my blog and I'm lucky if I get about 800 viewers.

"Maybe I caught the mood of people who might themselves have wanted to say one or two things to the Prime Minister and, not having any real opportunity to do so, felt the next best thing was to have somebody do it for them."
