The family of a young woman who died after suffering an ectopic pregnancy has vowed her death will not be in vain.

Jade Chittock, 21, suffered weeks of pain and sickness before collapsing just days before Christmas. Despite paramedics’ attempts to save her, Jade was pronounced dead at her home in Devon Close, Chatham, on the morning of December 20.

Jade was 10 weeks pregnant but unbeknown to her as she excitedly thought of baby names with her boyfriend of two years Luke Doust, the pregnancy was ectopic and would ultimately lead to her death.

Jade’s family now want to help raise awareness of the condition to help prevent other woman suffering the same fate.

Her sister Kirsty Brooker, 30, said: “Jade had been complaining of back pain and she couldn’t keep anything down, not even water. She told us she had been checked out by a doctor but we don’t know now if she had.

“She collapsed the week before she died but she just went home to bed. In the last few days she was so weak that her boyfriend was having to help her in and out of bed and help her get dressed.”

“We want to raise awareness of the symptoms of ectopic pregnancies and hopefully if other women are experiencing the same thing they will get checked out. We can’t change what has happened but if we can save just one other woman then Jade’s death won’t be in vain, something good will have come of it.”

Jade, a former pupil at Rainham School for Girls, was one of six brothers and sisters. Kirsty says her death has left a huge whole in the family.
She added: “We are a close family. It is like we are a jigsaw puzzle and there is a bit missing now.

“Jade was looking forward to being a mum. She had 11 nieces and nephews and she was really good with kids. It was probably because she was a child at heart. She was the second youngest but she always wanted to be the baby of the family.

“You became childish when you were around Jade, there was just something about her.

“She loved Disney and had been to Disneyland Paris at least 10 times. She always wanted to go to the one in Florida. We are planning to go next year and we’ll have her ashes put into jewellery so we can take her with us.”
