Met Office warns of heavy rain and possible flash flooding in Kent and London

The Met Office has warned of heavy showers with the potential to cause flash flooding in parts of the county tonight.

The warning was issued as rain sweeps over much of Kent with many areas experiencing thunder and sudden, heavy downpours.

The Met office statement said: "Heavy showers will be persistent and thundery at times through this evening and overnight.

"The public should be aware of the risk of some localised surface water flooding. Lightning and hail may be additional hazards."

This latest warning follows torrential rain and strong winds that lashed the county earlier this week, causing flooding, storm damage, school closures and crashes on the roads.
