An 18-year-old female passenger is also in a critical, but no longer life-theatening, condition in London's King's College Hospital.

Two other men - aged 18 and 26 - remain in the QEQM and William Harvey Hospital, Ashford.

The four, all from the Ashford area, had to be freed by firefighters after becoming trapped in the car.

The Vauxhall Vectra overturned and hit the tree in Calcott Hill, Herne Bay Road.

The road was re-opened at 3.50am.

Officers from the Kent Police Serious Collision Investigation Unit are appealing for witnesses to phone 01622 798538.
