Hessenthaler, who is part of the Gills’ development squad, played 90 minutes as the Lambs won 1-0 at Stockport.

The 18-year-old only agreed to a move from the Gills on the day of the game. Last week he was playing for Lewes - along with fellow youth player Josh Hare - in the Ryman League.

Hessenthaler (pictured) was recently part of Gillingham’s travelling party to Yorkshire, as they took in games at Bradford and York.

Prior to that he had spent time on loan at Merstham.

Fellow youngster Ashley Miller was also in action in midweek, for Ryman League Hythe, where he helped the side to a 1-0 over Three Bridges.

Miller has scored three goals in four appearances for Scott Porter's side and his signing has coincided with an up-turn in form, with the team winning their last three.
