The French immigration minister is visiting Calais today to investigate concerns about increasing numbers of migrants gathering there.

Aid agencies want a new shelter to be set up in the northern French town, seven years after the closure of the Red Cross centre in nearby Sangatte.

The British government fears another camp would encourage more people to sneak into Britain illegally.
