Firefighters have just brought a huge grass fire in Minster under control.

Four crews from Sheppey, Eastchurch, Sittingbourne and Gillingham were called out.

The fire spread on wasteland behind Appleford Drive in Minster and started at about noon.

Firefighters used several hose reels and a hydrant to tackle the blaze.

EDF Energy engineers have also been requested to attend to check a nearby overhead cable.

Strong winds were hampering the efforts of the firefighters.
