Kent bowler Dewald Nel has suffered another injury setback, and has been ruled out for at least another month.

The South African-born Scottish international, who has been troubled by a back injury since arriving at the club, pulled up in net practice on Thursday.

Coach Paul Farbrace said: "Our physio (Nimmo Reid) has decided he needs a spell away from bowling, and we will see what happens then. It’s extremely disappointing.”

Nel, who has bowled only seven overs in senior cricket so far this season, pulled out of a Second XI game earlier this month.

He trained this week, and had hoped to play in Kent’s friendly against Sussex at The Mote in Maidstone.

Nel joined Kent at the start of this season but his injury, coupled with that of senior players including Robbie Joseph and the absence of James Tredwell on England duty, has left the county short on bowling resources.
