Boy, 16, arrested on suspicion of terrorism offences at Stansted airport

A teenager arrested at Stansted Airport on suspicion of terrorism offences has been released.

Officers from the Eastern Region Special Operations Unit, working with Counter Terrorism Policing South East, arrested the boy on Sunday.

The teenager, from the Kent area, was due on a flight leaving the UK.

He was arrested around 4pm on suspicion of collecting information which is likely to be useful to a person committing or preparing an act of terrorism under Section 58 of the Terrorism Act 2000.

He was detained under the Police and Criminal Evidence Act (PACE) but was released under investigation yesterday afternoon.

He has not been charged.
