Kent captain Rob Key feels his side, with what he sees as potentially the best new-ball attack in the country to call on, have a real chance of success in 2010.

Speaking to around 200 members at the club’s annual meeting at St Lawrence on Monday night, Key said bowler Robbie Joseph was ‘touch-and-go’ to be fit for the start of the LV= County Championship Division 1 campaign against Nottinghamshire on Thursday, April 15.

Key (pictured) said Joseph’s fitness and form would go a long way to determining how Kent fare this season.

He said: "He went to Antigua over the winter to start bowling. That’s the thing, not only does he have to be fit, he has to be bowling well.

"If he’s bowling well he’s a 60 wickets in the Championship man but not so great when he’s not bowling well.

"So not only does he have to get fit, he’s got to be bowling well. We haven’t got a huge seam attack

"Robbie and Amjad Khan are not just bits and pieces guys - they’ve got to try and lead the way. They’ve got potential to be the best new-ball attack in the country."
