Kent have won the Bill Beaumont Cup County Championship Division 2 South and with it promotion to Division 1 with a 66-0 thrashing of Middlesex at Folkestone.

They have now qualifed for the final of this season's Plate against Warwickshire at Blackheath's Well Hall Ground on Saturday, May 29 (3pm kick-off).

Kent are being coached for the second year by Chris Wilkins and Simon Jervis. Wilkins is also coach to the Whitgift School side who won this season's Daily Mail RBS Under-18 Cup at Twickenham, while Jervis is head of PE at Sir Joseph Williamson's Mathematical School in Rochester, having also coached at Gravesend RFC.

Wilkins said of his Kent side: "Every match we play, I feel we are developing and improving.

"We played very well in the first half against Middlesex to lead 46-0 by half-time and I was pleased with the intensity. Then we ran on all of the bench and still managed to keep our opponents from scoring in the second half.

"I am sure Warwickshire will be a tougher test in the final but we will accept the challenge and we are delighted have earned promotion. We want to push on and be as strong as we can be."

Canterbury prop Jimmy Stanford scored two tries against Middlesex, and also among the tries were Blackheath's Jack Knight and Tom White, Dover fly half Martyn Beaumont, Canterbury full-back Will Alkin, and Gravesend's Rob Hussey and Ash Moorey.

Warwickshire beat North Midlands 30-19 to win Division Two North, having led 23-0 in the first half, with Stourbridge prop Brook Davies scoring a late try converted by Nuneaton scrum half Huw Thomas.
