Driving offences lead to disqualification

Anthony Ronald Edgley, of Nelson Avenue, Minster, drove a Land Rover in Leysdown Road, Leysdown, while disqualified, without due care and attention and with no insurance. He also failed to stop the vehicle when required to do so by a police officer and had a quantity of cocaine in his possession.

Magistrates sentenced the 38-year-old to 180 days in prison, suspended for 18 months, ordered him to carry out 150 hours of unpaid work in the next 12 months and banned him from driving for 36 months. He must also pay £85 costs and a £115 victim surcharge.

Woman avoids jail

Julie Meek, of Shepherd’s Lane, Dartford, drove a Nissan Qashqai in West Hill, Dartford, and gave a breath test of 129 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35mg.

Magistrates sentenced the 51-year-old to 12 weeks in prison, suspended for two years, and banned her from driving for three years. She must also pay £85 costs and a £115 victim surcharge.

Chatham man behind bars

Ricky Arnold, of White Road, Chatham, stole meat, milk, alcohol and other groceries worth £117.20 from a service station in Watling Street, Strood, toothpaste and other consumables worth £40 from a supermarket in High Street, Strood, and perfume worth £360.50 from a shop in The Pentagon Shopping Centre, Chatham.

He also took stole meat worth £34 from a shop in Magpie Hall Road, Chatham.

Magistrates sentenced the 33-year-old to 300 days in prison. He must also pay £517 compensation, £85 costs and a £115 victim surcharge.

Ford Fiesta driver drove while already banned

Tony Michael Jones, of Gloucester Road, Gillingham, drove a Ford Fiesta in New Road, Chatham, while disqualified, with no insurance and without a test certificate and he failed to surrender to bail at Medway Magistrates’ Court without reasonable excuse.

Magistrates sentenced the 49-year-old to 50 days in prison, suspended for 12 months, and banned him from driving for 14 months. He must also pay a £115 victim surcharge.

Motorist 2.5 times drink drive limit

Jamie Brook, of Gayhurst Drive, Sittingbourne, drove a Mercedes in London Road, Maidstone, and gave a breath test of 90 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, well above the legal limit is 35mg.

Magistrates banned the 25-year-old from driving for 22 months. He must also pay a £340 fine, £85 costs and a £34 victim surcharge.

Prison for duvet thief

Stuart John Payne, of Dickens Road, Maidstone, stole three duvet sets worth £45 from a shop in St Peter’s Street, Maidstone, pinched meat worth £39 from a supermarket in the town's Romney Place, and failed to surrender to bail without reasonable excuse.

Magistrates sentenced the 53-year-old to 56 days in prison. He must also pay £30 compensation, £600 costs and a £230 victim surcharge.

Man assaulted on driveway

William Thewlas Jones, of Farm Lane, Tonbridge, assaulted a man on the driveway of another address in Farm Lane, causing him actual bodily harm.

Magistrates sentenced the 38-year-old to 180 days in prison, suspended for 18 months, and gave him a three month curfew to remain at home between 7pm and 7am daily. The curfew runs until October 10. He must also pay £750 compensation, £620 costs and a £115 victim surcharge.

Driver with no insurance behind bars

Robert Joseph Donovan, of Aldon Lane, West Malling, drove a Ford Transit in Lavender Road, East Malling, while disqualified and with no insurance.

He was sentenced the 43-year-old to 197 days in prison and banned from driving for 27 months. He must also pay a £115 victim surcharge.

Twenty-six weeks in prison for 26-year-old

Dan Morrison, of Grace Hill, Folkestone, exposed his genitals and used racially and religiously aggravated threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour towards several people at a mosque in Foord Road South, Folkestone, causing them to fear violence.

Magistrates sentenced the 26-year-old to 26 weeks in prison. He must also pay a £115 victim surcharge.

Ramsgate man stole from woman

Neil Joseph Jones, of Viaduct Close, Ramsgate, stole a credit card from a woman in the town.

Magistrates sentenced the 39-year-old to 35 days in prison. He must also pay a £115 victim surcharge.

Dover man assaulted officer

Keith Stephen Lawrence, of Belgrave Road, Dover, was drunk and disorderly in Hawley Street, Margate. He also assaulted a police officer and damaged a Perspex divider in a police van cell.

Magistrates ordered the 41-year-old to carry out 160 hours of unpaid work in the next 12 months. He must also pay £100 compensation, £620 costs and an £85 victim surcharge.

Thief broke into salon and took iPad

Ashley Little, of Bournemouth Drive, Herne Bay, broke into a beauty salon in High Street, Ramsgate, and stole an iPad, hairdressing equipment and an unknown amount of cash.

Magistrates sentenced the 23-year-old to six months in prison. He must also pay £200 compensation and a £115 victim surcharge.

Driver was over limit

Francis Alexander Standen, of Snave, Ashford, drove a Peugeot 307 in Northdown Park Road, Margate, and gave a breath test of 75 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, well above the limit of 35mg.

Magistrates banned the 23-year-old from driving for 21 months. He must also pay a £212 fine, £85 costs and a £30 victim surcharge.

Thanet resident damaged toilet

Karl Brock, of Linksfield Road, Westgate on Sea, caused damage worth £2,900 to toilet cubicles at a bowling alley in Ethelbert Crescent, Margate.

Magistrates sentenced the 24-year-old to 120 days in prison, suspended for 18 months, and ordered him to carry out 150 hours of unpaid work in the next 12 months. He must also pay £2,900 compensation and £85 costs.

Curfew for casino attacker

Samuel Christopher Andrew Timberlake, of Fairfield Road, Ramsgate, assaulted two men at a casino in Margate Road, Broadstairs.

Magistrates sentenced the 22-year-old to 120 days in prison, suspended for 18 months, and gave him a six-month curfew to remain at home between 10pm and 6am daily. The curfew runs until January, 10 2018. He must also pay £400 compensation, £85 costs and a £115 victim surcharge.

Woman sentenced for driving offences

Linda Jessica Hitchcock, of Craddock Road, Canterbury, drove a Vauxhall Astra in Querns Road, Canterbury, with no insurance and gave a breath test of 88 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. She also failed to surrender to bail at Thanet Magistrates’ Court without reasonable excuse.

Magistrates banned the 26-year-old from driving for 22 months and ordered her to carry out 60 hours of unpaid work in the next 12 months. She must also pay a £170 fine, £320 costs and a £115 victim surcharge.

Faversham man failed breath test

Andrew Cook, of Makenade Avenue, Faversham, drove a Peugeot 207 in Old Thanet Way, Whitstable, and gave a breath test of 76 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

Magistrates banned the 52-year-old from driving for 21 months. He must also pay a £2,000 fine, £85 costs and a £170 victim surcharge.

Man stole headphones from shop

Zak Williams, of Hobart Road, Ramsgate, stole two lots of headphones costing £75 each from a supermarket in Manston Road, Ramsgate.

Magistrates sentenced the 20-year-old to 112 days in a Young Offenders' Institute. He must also pay £50 compensation.

Man took tools worth thousands

Jack William Strover, of Bybrook Road, Ashford, stole tools and property worth £5,124 from vehicles at a yard in Brunswick Road, Ashford.

Magistrates ordered the 29-year-old to carry out 220 hours of unpaid work in the next 12 months. He must also pay £1,000 compensation.

Baseball bat man escapes prison

Terry Thomas Bradley, of Elventon Close, Folkestone, used violence to secure entry to an address in Elventon Close. He also had a baseball bat in his possession and failed to surrender to bail at Folkestone Magistrates' Court without reasonable excuse.

Magistrates sentenced the 28-year-old to 26 weeks in prison, suspended for 12 months, and ordered him to carry out 150 hours of unpaid work in the next 12 months. He must also pay £150 compensation, £85 costs and a £115 victim surcharge.

Ford driver failed breath test

Edmundas Mikusevicius, of Hallett Walk, Canterbury, drove a Ford Focus on the A299, Monkton, and gave a positive breath test of 60 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

Magistrates banned the 60-year-old from driving for 36 months. He must also pay a £360 fine, £85 costs and a £36 victim surcharge.

Man in his 20s given community service

Michal Bledy, of Wyndham Road, Dover, assaulted a man in Pencester Road, Dover, causing him actual bodily harm.

Magistrates ordered the 22-year-old to carry out 220 hours of unpaid work in the next 12 months. He must also pay £500 compensation, £400 costs and a £115 victim surcharge.

Man stole razor blades and DVDs

Jeremy Ian Martin, of no fixed address, stole DVDs worth £30 from a shop in Biggin Street, Dover, packs of razor blades worth £260 from a supermarket in Charlton Green, Dover, and razor blades and alcohol worth £80 from the same supermarket.

Magistrates sentenced Martin to 120 days in prison. He must also pay £200 compensation and a £115 victim surcharge.
