Long delays over Dartford Crossing after lorry fire on M25

A wrecked lorry caught fire as it was being recovered after crashing through the central reservation almost 12 hours previously.

The truck crashed on the M25 anticlockwise, about half a mile before J29 A127 for Romford at 11.30pm yesterday.

The accident damaged the barrier, causing long delays.

Traffic problems were exacerbated this morning when the lorry caught fire as it was being recovered at about 11.45am.

Congestion is stretching to A282 Dartford River Crossing, causing long delays out of Kent.

Meanwhile, a lorry driver has been taken to hospital following a truck fire in Sandway today.

Firefighters were called to an HGV that caught light in Boughton Road, Sandway at 12.15pm.

Crews treated the driver with oxygen at the scene before he was taken to hospital by paramedics.

The truck was destroyed in the blaze, and the trailer was seriously damaged.
