January was marked with flurries of snow around the county. The Met Office issued weather warnings and, in some areas, schools had to close to make sure pupils were safe.

Meanwhile news broke about a serious accident during a charity pram race which was held on New Year's Day. Police officers confirmed a man was airlifted to King's College Hospital after their trike ran into spectators at the event in Sutton Valence. The man sadly later died.

A teacher, who was due up in court on rape and sex abuse charges, died on the A249. The car he was travelling in crashed into the back of a parked lorry at speed.

Also in January police revealed a brother and sister were among three people who passed away after falling from the Cliffs of Dover. The incident was reported to have happened on New Year's Day and caused a major investigation.

He was taken to court by the Equality and Human Rights Commission over his comments and an injunction was passed, banning him from applying criteria discriminating against "coloured" tenants.

A touching story grabbed the hearts of people around Kent in April when we found out sweethearts Joyce and Frank Dodd died on the same day. The couple had both been in Darent Valley Hospital where staff put the beds together so they could spend their last moments with each other.

A man's body had been found at an Ashford leisure centre car park prompting scores of police cars to dash to the scene. The death was not treated as suspicious.

Things turned violent at Bluewater as a vigilante paedophile hunter group conducted a sting at the shopping centre. Two men were charged by officers after the event. They were both given a year community order and made to do 300 hours on unpaid work, as well as complete a rehabilitation course. They also had to £170 each.
