TRAFFIC on the M20 motorway was running normally today after an accident involving an articulated lorry and a van yesterday caused huge jams.

The crash happened between Junction 4 at Leybourne and Junction 3 at Wrotham. The HGV, which was loaded with oranges, ended up lying on its side across three lanes and the central reservation.

The driver of the Mercedes HGV was airlifted to hospital by Kent Air Ambulance but his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening. It is thought he was thrown clear. The female driver of the van was treated for shock.
