Maidstone shopping centre brawl leaves police officer and security guards injured

A police officer and security guards have been injured in a brawl at The Mall Chequers in Maidstone.

They were hurt after being called to deal with a disturbance between four men in the High Street shopping centre yesterday.

A scuffle is said to have broken out at about 4.10pm when the group were escorted from the building by security staff.

Trouble flared and police were called. The officer and three security officers suffered minor injuries.

An 18-year-old man, from Bobbing, and two Sheerness men aged 19 and 21 were arrested on suspicion of assault.

A 20-year-old man, from Sheerness, was arrested on suspicion of obstructing a police constable.

All four were released on police bail until Thursday, December 20 pending further investigations.
