Man dies and three injured in multiple crashes

One man died and others were injured in a day of crashes across Kent.

In Dover, police were called to two serious road traffic collisions within 10 minutes of each other - in Ripple and Whitfield on Friday.

A motorcyclist died after his Yamaha Virago bike hit a roundabout at the top of the slip road to the A2, Whitfield.

He had been driving towards Dover on the A256 just after 6.15am.

The rider, a 45 year-old local man, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Formal identification has yet to be made.

The roads were closed until around 10.40am, while officers from Serious Crash Investigation investigated.

Just minutes later, at 6.27am, police were called to Ripple where a car had crashed into the side of a house.

The driver, a 33-year-old man who was not local, was not wearing a seat belt and was taken to QEQM hospital with suspected serious neck injuries, and is undergoing tests.

A structural engineer was called to the scene to ascertain the damage to the house.

The road was re opened at 10.31am.

Meanwhile, in Ashford, two people were cut free from their vehicles after a three-car pile-up.

The emergency services, including the air ambulance, were called to the Kingsnorth area at 8.40am.

The two injured included a man in his 'fifties, who was taken to the William Harvey Hospital with chest injuries.
