Man struck and killed by train at Wye railway station

The body of a man has been found at Wye railway station. It is thought he was struck by a train.

A British Transport Police spokesman said officers were called to the scene along with paramedics at around 7am Saturday.

A BTP spokesman said: "The man, believed to be a 44-year-old from Wye, was pronounced dead at the scene. He had injuries consistent with being struck by a train."

The body was found on the tracks. The man's family has been informed.

The spokesman added that the train involved was an early morning de-icing service.

At the moment the death is being treated as "unexplained".

An investigation is under way and anyone with information is urged to contact British Transport Police on 0800 405040.
