Man taken to hospital after pub cash snatch

Police are appealing for people living near the scene of a early morning robbery to search their gardens for the stolen items.

Officers have also renewed their appeal for people to come forward with information.

A man has been assaulted and robbed as he left a Medway pub early this morning.

The 42-year-old victim was leaving the Poacher's Pocket pub on Walderslade Road, Walderslade between 6:30am and 6:45am.

Two men approached him and assaulted him before taking some money, believed to be around £40, two mobile phones and a black holdall bag. The men made off on foot towards Churchill Avenue.

The victim has been taken to hospital, his injuries are not thought to be life threatening at this time. He is said to have suffered a cut to his head

Police sealed off the area while forensic experts examined the scene. Officers have also begun to make door-to-door enquiries and are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Det Insp Ann Wiseman said: The victim was carrying a black holdall bag with a silver buckle on it which was taken. It had two mobile phones inside it.

"The man’s wallet was also taken which contained about £40 in cash.

"If anyone finds any of these items in their gardens or in hedges around the local area then they should contact Kent Police immediately."

The suspects were about 5ft 7in tall and both of stocky build.

They were wearing jeans and black hooded tops.
