The new Marlowe Theatre has announced its first pantomime stars for its production of Cinderella.

John Partridge, best known as Christian in EastEnders, and Britain’s Got More Talent presenter Stephen Mulhern, pictured left, get the honour of being the first festive bill toppers in the £27.5m venue.

John will be taking on the role of Prince Charming, while Stephen will be playing Buttons. Stephen is already a veteran of two pantomimes in the old Marlowe.

John, 39, joined EastEnders as Christian in 2008 after initially training as a ballet dancer at The Royal Ballet and starring in several West End shows.

He has also been on the judging panel of BBC1 show Over The Rainbow and sometimes guest presents the National Lottery.

Stephen, 34, began his career as a TV magician as a member of The Magic Circle but found fame as a presenter on children’s programme CITV.

He will be hitting screens again soon as Britain's Got Talent gets underway on Saturday.

Cinderella co-producer Paul Hendy said: "John and Stephen are two of the most talented and popular performers in the country and we are absolutely thrilled to have them on board.

"Our aim is to make this production of Cinderella the biggest and most spectacular pantomime in the country."

Herne comedian Dave Lee has already been announced as playing Baron Hardup while fellow Marlowe favourite Ben Roddy will play Dandini.

The roles of Cinderella and Fairy Godmother have yet to be announced.

Cinderella is at the Marlowe Theatre from Friday, December 2 to Sunday, January 22, 2012.
