More delays today after road collapse

Wrotham Road Meopham has collased and the water pipes have burst.
Wrotham Road Meopham has collased and the water pipes have burst.

Delays are expected today after a busy road which collapsed on New Year's Day still remains impassable.

Drivers are being advised to find an alternative route after a large hold appeard in the A227 in Meopham. It is believed to have been caused by pipework collapsing under the road.

Repairs are being carried out, but the road closure at the A227's junction with Cricketers Drive in Meopham Green remains, and it is likely to cause problems for at least the next few days.

Diversions have been put in place to allow access for local traffic, but they are unsuitable for large or commercial vehicles which will have to use the A20 and M25.
