Pop star Peter Andre will perform at next year's Castle Concerts in Rochester.

Medway Council revealed this morning they have signed the Mysterious Girl singer to perform on Thursday, July 14.

Tickets go on sale at 10am on Wednesday, December 1, and are expected to be snapped up quickly by fans.

Andre has had worldwide hits with Mysterious Girl, Behind Closed Doors and his latest single, Defender.

Yet it was his stormy relationship with model Jordan that helped keep him in the public eye.

Their high-profile courtship, marriage and divorce in front of television and newspaper cameras made both of them worldwide celebrities.

The Australian star is the first star to be announced for next year's concerts. He follows in the footsteps of Status Quo, Will Young and Jools Holland.

A council spokesman said the headline act for the opening Castle Concert on Wednesday, July 13, will be announced next year along with the names of acts for the concerts on the following Friday and Saturday (July 15 and 16).
