Hundreds of Islanders are preparing themselves for one of Sheppey’s biggest fund-raising events which is taking place next week.

There is still time to sign up for this year’s Paul Trigwell Island Run (PTIR), which will be on Sunday, May 10, and is the third annual run.

The event is organised to raise money for the Paul Trigwell Memorial Fund, which was set up in memory of Mr Trigwell, the head of St George’s Middle School who died suddenly in 2006.

The fund is for under-privileged children who live and go to school on the Island, helping them and their families in times of need.

A two-mile fun run starts at 10.30am from the Beach Hotel in Minster, a 10-mile run will start at 10am from opposite the golf hut in Shellness Road, Leysdown, and for the first time, a 10-mile relay will start in Leysdown at 10am.

This year the theme of the run is heroes and villains.
