Police name death crash driver

A MOTORIST who died when his car left the road and plunged into a ditch at Broadstairs has been named as 56-year-old John Lynch, of Southwood Gardens, Ramsgate. He was on his way to work in the social services department at the Queen Mother Hospital, Margate, when his Peugeot 405 crashed at St Peter’s Road on Friday at 8.35am.

Police say he was declared dead at the scene, and a crash investigation team was called to the accident spot, 300 metres from the St Peter’s roundabout.

A police spokeswoman said: “No other cars were involved in the accident. A post mortem examination and an inquest will be held.” The road, that links Broadstairs to Margate, was closed immediately. Traffic was diverted and there were rush-hour hold ups at major junctions around the area.
