Two puppies have been found dumped in a cardboard box near a field outside Maidstone.

The six-week-old puppies were found by a dog walker at the entrance to a field at the side of Warmlake Road in Chart Sutton near Maidstone.

The RSPCA was called and Inspector Teresa Potter took the puppies to a vet for treatment.

The puppies are both female Jack Russell terrier type cross breed puppies - one is a wire haired and one is a smooth coated one. They had overgrown nails and fur loss.

After treatment they were taken the RSPCA Patcham animal centre where they will be found new homes.

Inspector Potter said: "These puppies were found in a poor condition and had simply been left to survive on their own, which they would never have been able to. We would like to hear from anyone who knows who dumped them."

The puppies were found on November 3.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact the RSPCA in confidence on 0300 1234999.
