A band playing a support slot at a Broadstairs pub tomorrow night (Saturday Oct 11) has an unusual claim to fame.

Ten Bananas is made up of five sub editors of a national tabloid newspaper.

The red top rockers will be making the journey from Wapping to support Bradstow favourites Captain Mildred. The two bands have something in common - the lead singer, Matt Silk.

The Ten Bananas line-up is: Matt on vocals; Mike, lead guitar; Graeme, guitar; Mark on bass; and Tony on drums.

They are in hot demand at the News International HQ for leaving parties, Christmas celebrations etc, and have just been booked for three solo gigs at the Red Lion in Ramsgate next year.

They play classic and contemporary rock, including AC/DC, Thin Lizzy, The Fratellis, and Green Day.

Their name comes from a comment by guitarist Graeme, who modestly said his fingers feel like ten bananas when he plays.

Get to the Bradstow by 8.30pm if you want to check them out, and see them in action on the Captain Mildred website, www.captainmildred.com
