Rochester Cathedral has received £123,000 from English Heritage towards roof repairs.

The money is part of a near £350,000 handout from the agency's Cathedral Grants scheme.

Canterbury Cathedral will receive £230,000 for repairs to the Howley library roof.

Professor Sir Barry Cunliffe, interim chairman of English Heritage, said: "Cathedrals are some of our country's most imposing and beautiful buildings.

"The excellent craftsmanship demonstrated in these places of worship is something which we must strive to preserve for generations to come."
