Sex attack on 'vulnerable' woman

A WOMAN with learning difficulties was sexually assaulted by a man when she stopped to ask him for a cigarette.

The attacker and another man with him then assaulted the 49-year-old, who was wearing a nightdress at the time.

The assault took place in an alleyway off St Mildred’s Road, Westgate, near Margate, between 6.30am and 8am on Sunday. The men were both white and had brown hair. One wore a blue t-shirt and the other wore a leather jacket.

A police spokesperson said: “This was an appalling attack on a vulnerable member of our community. I would urge anyone with information to contact us urgently”.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident and anyone with information is asked to contact either DC Chris Pepper or WDC Sharon Fleming on (01843) 222158. Witnesses can also call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
