Boss Martin Allen insists the Gillingham squad will be able to cope despite six players coming close to receiving suspensions.

Matt Fish, Joe Martin, Lewis Montrose, Jack Payne, Charlie Allen and Charlie Lee have all been booked four times this season.

One more booking will mean an automatic one-match ban.

The Football Association’s policy on banning players who reach five bookings runs until December 31.

The Gills have three games left between then and now but manager Martin Allen said: "I’m not bothered by that.

"We ask them to compete and we tell them to have good discipline and not to have verbals or arguing with the referee. I think the record so far has been terrific.

"A few of our younger players have had red cards but it’s only been for over-enthusiasm, not through horrible tackling.

"The behaviour and the conduct of our players on the field of play has been absolutely spot-on regards to yellow cards.

"We have a big squad of players and if someone is out, we can put someone else in.

"I certainly won’t be losing any sleep over that one."
